World Youth Basketball Championship:32 Players Commence Preparations In Lagos

Nigeria basketball coach, Joel Adams has assured that Nigeria will give a good account of themselves at THE world youth basketball championship billed for Italy. 

32 players who made the final selection from a screening exercise will undergo further training in readiness for the games in Matera ,July this year. 

The selection process was held at the unilag sports Center Lagos. 

The selection exercise organised by impact kiddies basketball project saw over 50 children from different parts of Lagos showcase their skills in the slamming and dunking game to stand a chance to represent Lagos State and Nigeria in Italy. 

The programme is In association with subeb,Lagos state school sports and the Lagos state sports commission. 

The selected players will  take part in the first honorable lanre okunola primary school basketball clinic. 

The one day tournament which is billed for March 13th 2025 at the indoor sports Hall of the national stadium surulere Lagos, is open to subeb selected schools in Lagos mainland, surulere and shomolu. 

As part of its mission to develop and showcase exceptional young talent, impact kiddies sports project is committed to selecting and training outstanding youth basketball players from Lagos State to represent Nigeria on the global stage. 

This event marks a significant step in the journey to the World Youth Games. 

Ex-Nigerian basketball player, Joel Adams who doubles as President of impact kiddies sports project , commended honourable lanre okunola for coming on board to support the project, while charging corporate bodies and government to key into thier vision of raising worthy ambassadors for the country through the slamming and dunking game. 

“We are grateful to Honourable Lane Okunola for his supporters sand encouragement towards this project. We will make the country proud in Italy ” He said 

Nigeria will compete in the under 15 boys and girls and under 12 mixed category at the world youth basketball championship in Matera Italy.
