Nigeria Judo Federation Call For Corporate Support Ahead Of Olympic Qualifier

President Nigeria judo federation Musa Oshodi is optimistic judo will make up  the list of sports Nigeria will participate in at the forthcoming Olympic Games in France from July 26 to August 11 2024

The Nigeria judo team are close to qualifying for the Olympic games in Paris after finishing third at the Africa judo open held in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire last month

The team is expected to take part at the world judo tournament in Taipa Taiwan on July 16 for the last round of qualifiers for the paris Olympics 

Musa Oshodi said the team which have since been in camp in readiness for the Taipa competition are in high spirit to punch their tickets to Paris 

” We are leaving no stone unturned to ensure Nigeria qualifies for the Olympics. The athletes did the country proud at the Africa competition where they overcame participants from over 20 countries to finish 3rd, a result that gave Nigeria  an edge towards qualification for the games

Judo federation has the athletes that can make  the podium at the Olympics but first we have to qualify , that’s by giving that same energy , determination and resilience in Taipa” he said 

Musa Oshodi is in chat with stories24 said the federation is faced with a challenge to raise funds for the trip to Taipa but he is hopeful the team things will turn for the best 

He has however called on well meaning Nigerians and corporate bodies to give their support towards achieving this goal 

” The federation is seriously looking for where to raise money to fund the trip to the world judo tournament in Taipa Taiwan. We can’t afford to miss this opportunity to qualify which we believe Nigeria will .

I personally sponsored the team to the Africa judo open in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire but this time around what we need is huge so we need the corporate bodies to come to our aid ” he said 

There are 15 medals on offer in judo at the Olympics with two golds up for grabs every day.

A contingent of 3 male , 3 female athletes and a coach represented  Nigeria  at the African open in Cote D’Ivoire
