Yellow Dot Squash Champions Serves Off March 5 In Lagos
Yellow Dot squash club has perfected plans to organize a week- long squash championship in Nigeria in order to spot, nurture talents and promote the sport in the country and beyond.
The club picked interest in the sports as a means to contribute to the growth of squash in the country.
Chairman Yellow Dot squash club , Prince Sola Adekunle noted that the club supports membership and promoting Squash at various levels is one of the avenue to do so.
He stated that all participants have been drawn across different age grade levels and even other professional who have interest in the sports.
He adds that the mission is to catch squash players at a very young age so they can grow in the game and even have the capacity to represent the country at local and international competitions.
Continuing, he said another mission of establishing interest in sports especially squash is to take many unemployed youths off the streets, so they can shun social vices and embrace sports.
He said further that the club have put plans on ground to sponsor many squash players as they progress in the sports.
” We are poised to do anything within our reach to take squash to an appreciable level .The talents are in Nigeria but lack what will make them world stars that’s why are working with both the Lagos state squash association and the federation to develop the sport in the land ” He said
The total monies to be shared amongst all participants after the competition amounts to $6,000
For his part Director of socials , yellow dot squash club Lolade Ogunwomoju says talented players will undergo further training fully sponsored by the club
Lolade Ogunwomoju noted the competition will also have PSA players in attendance
‘” Talents discovered from this tournament will undergo world class training in the yellow dot squash academy where they will be exposed to the quality training facilities and nurtured to stardom” Lolade Ogunwomoju assured
The squash event which will be held annual will run from March 5th to 9th at the squash courts of the TESLIM Balogun stadium
