Injury Rules Troost-Ekong Out For Months

The captain of the Super Eagles of Nigeria and 2023 AFCON most valuable player William Troost-Ekong has been ruled out of the season due to a ruptured biceps femoris in his right leg.

The POAK defender is expected to undergo surgery today, February 27, 2024, which will most likely rule him out of this season

The 30-year-old missed the Eagle’s final group game against Guinea Bissau but he played through the injury in the second round, quarter-final, semi-final and final against Cameroon, Angola, South Africa and Cote d’Ivoire respectively.

Ekong emerged as the most valuable of AFCON 2023, he scored three goals for Nigeria including the goal against the Ivorians in the final.
