Boxing: Taiwo Agbaje,Qudus Adeshina Call For More Corporate Support

Nigeria boxing sensation  Taiwo “Esepo” Agbaje says  he is looking forward to the biggest fight of his career 

He said he got what it takes to defeat any champion in his weight category in the world 

Agbaje in an interview with Lagos television said he started boxing at the age of 6 having grown up from a family of boxers as both his parents are boxers 

He stated that the only thing hindering the growth of professional boxing in Nigeria is the lack of support from corporate bodies 

The pugilist who turned professional in 2018 represented Nigeria at the  Junior Olympics in 2009, Commonwealth Games in 2010, All Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique in 2011 and Commonwealth Games in India.

He also represented Lagos severally and emerged national champion in national competitions.

” Right now, nobody can stop me here, that is why they call me ‘Esepo’. Nobody can take my punches and survive. I want the world title. I love boxing it’s in my blood , I train so hard to keep myself ready for any challenge ” he said.

Meanwhile former boxer Qudus Adeshina who is now a boxing promoter praised the Nigeria boxing board of control on their efforts in reviving professional boxing in the land but lamented on the lack of interest show by the corporate bodies towards the sport 

In a way to contribute his own quota to develop boxing in the land the ze boxer has been organizing the Ninja Hood star rumble in the Hood boxing championship to give a platform to young boxers to ahowcase their talents and be discovered 

The essence is the engage the youth meaningfully through sports and give them a semve of belonging in the society 

” I go to the inner parts of Lagos to look for boxers who love the sport and encourage them by giving them a platform with my tournament. So many talents have been discovered from the Ninja Hood star boxing tournament. The country is blessed with talented boxers who with the necessary support and encouragement will become worthy ambassadors for the country” he said
