AFCON 2023: Elephants Of Cote D’Ivoire Players Visit Tomb Of Felix Houphouët-Boigny Ahead Of Senegal Game

Fringe qualifiers into the Africa Cup of Nations’ Round of 16, Cote d’Ivoire arrived Yamoussoukro, the Ivorian political capital for their Monday match with defending champions, Senegal.

They immediately head to the tomb of Felix Houphouët-Boigny, the founding father of modern Cote d’Ivoire. There, each player filed past and bowed before the squad head for Parliamentary Hotel where they are now housed.

According to leading Ivorian newspaper, Fraternité Matin, the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire were warmly received into the city that houses the largest Christian church in the world, Basilica of Our Lady of Peace.
