Saturday January 27,2024 three-time champions Nigeria will play their longtime rivals Cameroon  in an attempt to advance to the AFCON quarterfinals.

Cameroon is a more accomplished squad than Nigeria at the continental competition, having won four AFCON Cups.

However, Nigeria now has a more talented squad than Cameroon, and the Super Eagles will be hopeful of winning their fourth AFCON match despite the injuries to numerous important players, such as Wilfred Ndidi, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Victor Boniface.

The Super Eagles have been putting in a lot of work in training to accomplish this goal, improving the tactics that will ensure victory tomorrow

on Thursday, Leicester City attacker Kelechi Iheanacho returned to full-team training.

Super Eagles star forward Victor Osimhen is still as fit as a fiddle and is expected to start at the front of the line against the Cameroonians.

Given that Moses Simon and Ademola Lookman are both still making waves in training, head coach Jose Peseiro must make a major decision over who starts on the left side for Nigeria.

The Super Eagles have adequate depth in their centre defence with Kenneth Omeruo and Chidozie Awaziem.

Peseiro is still anticipated to stick with his three-man defence of Calvin Bassey, William Troost-Ekong, and Semi Ajayi.

With just one goal conceded in three games, Nigeria has one of the greatest defensive records at the AFCON.

On the other hand, attacking needs major improvements, as Nigeria has only scored one goal from open play in the Cote d’Ivoire competition.
