As Roma Sack Jose Mourinho
AS Roma have made the decision to part ways with Jose Mourinho, terminating his contract with immediate effect as the team struggles in the ninth position in Serie A
The announcement comes after Mourinho’s two-and-a-half-year stint with the club, during which he achieved notable success, including securing the Europa Conference League title in 2022 and reaching the Europa League final last season, albeit ending in a defeat to Sevilla in a penalty shootout.
Roma’s owners, Dan and Ryan Friedkin, expressed their gratitude towards Mourinho in an official statement, acknowledging his passion and efforts during his tenure.
However, they emphasized that the decision for an immediate change was made in the best interests of the club.
The statement conveyed well-wishes to Mourinho and his assistants for their future endeavors.
Mourinho, an experienced manager with previous stints at Chelsea and Manchester United, had a mixed record at Roma.
Despite winning 68 out of 138 matches in charge, disciplinary issues were a recurring concern.
The decision to part ways followed Roma’s recent struggles, resulting in a 3-1 defeat to AC Milan in Mourinho’s final game in charge.
The team had managed to secure just one victory in their last six league games.
