Confederation of African Sports Supporters: Nigeria Host Maiden Awards In March

President General, Nigeria football and other sports supporters club, Dr Rafiu Ladipo has been nominated  for an award at the maiden Supporter Awards  by The Confederation of African Sports Supporters (CASS) 

The nomination was made during the Confederation of African Sports Supporters (CASS) meeting held during the week in Casablanca,Morroco 

The meeting brought together presidents, vice presidents and representatives from the 36 members countries of CASS  in a constructive atmosphere and successfully addressed all items on the agenda.

The supporter Awards 2026 will be held in Nigeria in March, in honor of Dr.  Rafiu ladipo who was elected Representative of the West African Zone after he officially gave his approval for Nigeria to host the event.

In respect of this, president nigeria football supporters club Rev. Samuel Ikpea, was appointed Head of the Organizing Committee, following his election and recommendation by Rafiu Ladipo , and validated by the members of the Executive Bureau.

The members of the Organizing Committee will be designated jointly by Mr. Rev. Samuel Ikpea and Mr. Bahi Serge, Secretary General of CASS, in accordance with the decisions taken during the meeting.

The Three main awards that were validated are Best Supporters Group Award, 

Best Mascot Award and Fair Play Award

The voting system approved for the awards will see 50%: Representatives from four non-qualified countries (Kenya, Mauritania, Guinea Conakry and Chad.), 30%: Sports journalists and 20%: Public vote

The meeting which was Organized on the sidelines of the AFCON Morocco 2025, held Discussions focused on strengthening structure, coordination, communication, and cooperation among African supporters associations at the continental level.

The meeting also addressed the launch of an upcoming official petition in response to racist acts and statements attributed to Donald Trump, reaffirming CASS’s firm stance against all forms of racism and discrimination, both in sports and in society.
